Police have charged Kecia Whitfield of Powder Springs with providing alcohol to minors during a party, which was attended by Garrett Reed, who later died when he crossed the center line while driving home and ran head-on into another vehicle.

Commentary:
Though a harsh commentary, we must take time to point out that the horrible death of this local teen was a result in the poor judgment decisions of several people...
First we have the parents of a 16 year old driver, who allowed their inexperienced teen to drive on rural roads after dark (after midnight), unattended with no supervision by an adult or older more experienced driver.
Second, we have the teen who chose to drink and then get behind a wheel to drive. All teens know the drill now - you don't drink and drive. You do - and this could happen.
Third, we have a supposed "adult" who provided alcohol to underage teens at a party, fully knowing that at least one of these teens was going to drive later. Complete stupidity.
Any ONE of the above decisions can result in a teen driving death. Mix two or three of them together, and we see the result. We hope that parents, teens, and people who host parties for teens will watch this story VERY carefully and learn from it.
