Do we no longer have a police chief in Powder Springs, or have they fired half of the officers or what?
Day after day we are watching groups of young black male teens roam the streets back and forth, up and down, and then later find out that things are missing on those same paths, cars are broken into, and homes are burglarized.
Just today I watched a group of 8 boys wonder the neighborhood over and over, slowly walking the street, looking at every house like they were looking for something, anything, they can take later. My husband went to the pharmacy to pick something up and he said there were similar groups of 3 to 7 or more boys just walking around all over. New Macland, Macedonia, Old Lost Mountain, Shipp Road, Forest Drive - nothing but gangs of boys wondering around looking for things to get into.
And not ONE POLICE CAR anywhere to stop and ask them what they were up to, if they had a destination, etc. Not one did he see, or have I seen patroling our area. Not a single one.
I suppose many people just run and move away but I refuse to undersell my house to get away from this. Powder Springs is not New Orleans and we need someone who will do something about this. Curfues, or bans on large groups of teens being able to gather, whatever it takes, but we need someone in charge of the police who has a clue how to get a grip on this rapidly growing problem.
I want my children to grow up in a SAFE town - do we have to move out of Powder Springs to find one????
Signed,
