My initial thought on it is yes, postponing until you are 100% is the wise thing to do. You will want to be able to walk/get around after surgery without pain or weakness in your ankle for sure.
I will likely take you 8-12 weeks to recoup from ankle surgery but discuss that issue with your Ortho doc to be sure, that should help you with the timing decisions.
