Hi Dr D. I just wanted to let you know that I am planning on getting a stacked unilateral post mastectomy DIEP with you at the helm sometime early next year. I had a surgery scheduled at NOLA with you for this last May but I found out by happenstance that I have bi-lateral FAI in both hips. The hip pain while lying on my side or almost at any time in Bed made me realize that recovery from a DIEP would nigh be unbearable until I got my hips fixed (arthroscopically: they sew up the cartilage and shave off the bone that has a nasty habit of slicing into my cartilage while I exercise -- specially during spinning, which I love...
Anyway, this is just to say that even though I will have to delay this recon surgery, I still enjoy taking a peek into your Ask the Doctor bulletin board about once a month. It is so wonderful to hear the questions that every woman wants to know and have your kind and thoughtful response following. It's better entertainment (and information) than any blog that I can imagine!
Thanks for your ongoing devotion to your patients Dr. D. I look forward to seeing you at the pre-op sometime in late January early Feb, after hips 1 and 2 (Betty and Boop) are fully recovered!
