Re: History of PhotoTherapy
Posted by Judy Weiser, Administrator It is discussed in the 1976 book "The Face of Madness: Hugh W. Diamond and the origin of psychiatric photography", which was edited by Sander Gilman, which was published by Citadel Press in Secaucus, New Jersey. Also, it is listed in the "Recommended Readings" pages of my book (on page 364). Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the paper -- but I believe the editors of the 1983 book, "PhotoTherapy in Mental Health" do -- if you need a copy, contact David Krauss directly (his email address is on the "Who's Doing What, Where" page of the PhotoTherapy Techniques Website). Hope this helps -- and now please tell us the reason you are asking -- are you writing about the History of this field?? Judy Weiser

Re: History of PhotoTherapy
Posted by Anita Thank you so much for your reply. It is very helpful. I have a masters degree in counseling and am now writing my dissertation for my Phd in Counseling offered jointly at California State University, Fullerton and the University of New England in New South Wales, Australia. I am also attending an 18-month program for a Professional Certificate in Art Therapy from the University of California, San Diego. I have decided to focus my research on the use of phototherapy for traumatized women and children. This is my first year of the 4-year PhD program, and I am working on my literature review including a historical background up through current research on the topic. Your website, list of recommended readings and articles have been an invaluable help. I will be presenting at the ACA conference in Montreal and am looking forward to attending your presentation and meeting you personally. Again, thank you for your reply. Take care, Anita
