Re: need some tips to find out the journals
Posted by Judy Weiser, Administrator Thank you for your inquiry and I will try to help you: First of all let me explain that there are two people in Korea who have my book and many of my own articles; both have interest in PhotoTherapy as part of Art Therapy, although it is certainly part of Psychology also (as well as useful in Social Work and other therapy fields too!). These two people are: So-hyun Park and Chung Dong-Hun and if you want their email addresses, please write to me directly at: jweiser@phototherapy-centre.com (because I don't like putting other people's addresses upon the internet without their permission) -- and I will be happy to let you know how to reach them. Maybe they will enjoy discussing PhotoTherapy with you! So-hyun Park was here training at my Centre last year -- and returned to Korea with a LOT of photocopied articles (by other people, as well as me). She has just completed her Thesis (in Korean) at EHWA University, on "A Study of PhotoTherapy" (it was for the Photography Department, but she has included a lot of the key PhotoTherapy concepts and authors). She also has my book... and she was the person who translated the page into Korean at the beginning of my website (http://www.phototherapy-centre.com/korean.htm) Chung Dong-Hun is Director of the Art Therapy Department at WonKwang University... He bought several copies of my book for his Department and hopes to some day have me come do a workshop there... and I know that both of these people would be happy to receive a message from you with excitement for PhotoTherapy!! NOW to answer your questions: First I must admit to some confusion when you mention "journals" that I wrote -- I think maybe we use that word differently in English... I have written many articles (and several chapters in other people's books) -- as well as my own book -- but.... a "Journal" is the "thing" (publication) in which many articles by many *different* people, all appear at the same time... So I myself have not written any "Journals", although, for a while, I did serve as the Editor ("director" ) of one... There are Journals for various Associations and you need to go to the website for each group, in order to find their Journals. (example: information about the "Journal of the American Art Therapy Association" can be found through the website of that organization, at: http://www.arttherapy.org/ ) The International PhotoTherapy Association no longer exists, and so its Journal is no longer available, although the "back issues" (all the old ones) are available for purchase through me at the PhotoTherapy Centre. You can write me directly for information about buying any of these... HOWEVER, I also am willing to make photocopies of particular articles (inside the Journals) that students want/need -- as long as the student is willing to pay for the cost involved to make the copies and mail them!! If you want to order copies of articles on my reading lists, I can mail these to you --- but you will need to write me *directly* to discuss this please... (because no "money discussions" are supposed to happen on this Discussion Group page) There are dozens of Theses and Dissertations at the Library of the PhotoTherapy Centre here (in Vancouver Canada) -- but I do not have ALL the Theses that are listed on my site's web-page... If you want to order copies of *entire* Theses, please write me directly and tell me which ones you want -- and I can likely give you the email address for those authors (and thus you can order the Thesis directly from that person). Most Theses are about 100 typed pages in length, and so it would be very expensive for you to ask ME to do the copying -- also some Theses I do not have the permisison to copy! (that decision is always the Author's choice, not mine...) Maybe if you want to do a lot of research, it might be better for you to think about coming to Vancouver to spend time in the Library HERE yourself? That way you could study what you want! I do not charge any fee for people to use my Library (but I *DO* charge for my time, if they want time with me) -- so you could use the Library use for free!! Finally, you wrote: "And through the lists in this website, it was impossible to see the content of the thesis except Judy Weiser's." -- well, I am sorry but I must tell you that I do not understand this sentence because I did not write any Thesis -- maybe you mean what I have written in my articles and book chapters?? Those are available for download because I myself own the "copyright" (but I do not usually have the right to do this with other people's writing; it would not be ethical, unless THEY donate these to my website)!! So I hope all this information helps you! And now please answer MY questions: 2) if "through the website", then how did you find the website?? 3) Are you doing a paper or Thesis on PhotoTherapy?? If you are, I would like to know more about this... Hope these answers help you now, Judy
