A new FaceBook Group has formed, named "PhotoTherapy, Therapeutic Photography, Photo Art Therapy, and VideoTherapy" -- with membership open to all interested in photography as emotional communication. It's not about "photography as art", nor about photographic techniques -- instead, it's about the "why" of photography... It is for all who are interested in how photographs communicate their meaning nonverbally, unconsciously, and differently for each viewer -- regardless of whatever artistic attributes these might also accidentally contain -- and how people not only use photographs to help narrate their lives, but also use them to help others (or themselves) by increasing awareness of the power of photographs to emotionally communicate beyond any capacity of words to convey... The Group is for discussing all aspects and techniques of "PhotoTherapy", "Therapeutic Photography", "Photo Art Therapy" and "VideoTherapy" -- all of which are more fully explained on the website "PhotoTherapy Techniques in Counseling and Therapy". And so if you are interested in, or work with, any of these techniques, feel free to join the Group and share in its discussions and news. Judy Weiser (FaceBook Group Administrator)
