Re: Video in Clinical Art Therapy Settings: Seeking research participants!
Posted by Judy Weiser, Administrator I will be very curious to find out what responses you get and what those people are doing.... Also of interest will be whether they call the making of videos, as creative actions rather than "during therapy", "Art Therapy" or more appropriately, "Therapeutic Art" (the categories are sometimes used interchangeably, when in fact they differ significantly...) On the "Who is Doing What, Where" page of the main website that this Discussion Group is part of, at: As you seem familiar with PhotoTherapy, Therapeutic Photography, VideoTherapy, and Therapeutic Video, I will assume that you know that these techniques are not limited to use by only Art Therapists only... And, should you be willing to include other mental health professionals (for example psychologists) who are doing this kind of "therapeutic videography" (which is the name of what you are referring to) as part of their work with clients, then perhaps you will want to read about the very exciting work of people mentioned on that page (for example, Craig Steinberg, Carmine Parrella, and others. just do a "find" for that page, for the word "video" -- and you'll find several listings... And finally, since I don't know how many A.T.'s will be reading these PhotoTherapy-related Discussion Group Postings very often, I urge you to post the text of your message directly to the e-groups that Art Therapists themselves look at often, particularly the "Art-Tx Egroup" that is run by Carol Lark. If you are not a member, then please contact me directly "back-channel" (privately, to my own email address below) and give me permission to forward your message to them -- I will be happy to do that if you want... Hope this helps, Judy (Weiser) jweiser@phototherapy-centre.com
