Re: information about PhotoTherapy and the PhotoTherapy Centre
Posted by Judy Weiser, Administrator I am pleased that you are interested in PhotoTherapy, thank you. PhotoTherapy is a set of techniques that can be used by any therapist (psychologist, art therapist, psychiatrist, etc.). Therefore if you are already trained in how to do therapy, you can learn these techniques many different ways: by attending workshops, by readng my book (which is like a workshop, but instead, it is written -- and it is easy to read -- not very technical), by coming to the PhotoTherapy Centre in Vancouver Canada for individual training that is arranged in advance (there are NO ongoing courses; you make an appointment to come for this training -- like a private seminar) -- and/or you could meet with other people I have trained and they assist you with some discussion or supervision. BUT there is no formal "certification" in PhotoTherapy Techniques and there are no always-ongoing courses at the Centre. They are taught in Workshops that I am hired to come teach, wherever a group of people wants to bring me to do this work for them. If you are going to live in London for a while, I would be happy to recommend a few people in England, who I have trained and who I think understand these techniques very well -- and are very competent in using them. Perhaps they could help you. Or if you have the money to travel to the West Coast of Canada (directly above Seattle, Washington), you are welcome to come to the Centre. To discuss these things you should write to me privately at: jweiser@phototherapy-centre.com One other way you can learn about PhotoTherapy is to read every page of the website "PhotoTherapy Techniques in Counseling and Therapy". See: There is even a summary in Portuguese of the entire PhotoTherapy web-site, found on the "Home Page" (menu choice at top right of that page), at: But there is not any "course", and the PhotoTherapy Centre is not a "clinic". It is only a training and resource location, but there is not any therapy practice there to be observed, and most training events take place in other cities... I hope this answers your questions; if not, please write again -- and please let me know how did you discover this Discussion Group? Did someone tell you about it? (how did you learn that it exists??) Judy (Weiser), R.Psych., A.T.R.,
