Posted by Judy Weiser, Administrator What seems to me to make the most sense is to do this early in the days of the Conference so that you are then able to arrange "second meetings" with people if desired... It will be an informal gathering/meeting (& dinner-for-those-who-need-food) to happen directly AFTER the end of the first night's Opening Reception finishes at 9 pm if people don't want to eat dinner that's fine too -- just come along anyway and you can sit and chat with those who will be eating... I will try to stand near the exit door of that room where the Reception is happening, at about 8:45, until about 9:15 (hopefully I'll be standing under a sign that says "PhotoTherapy gathering -- meet here at 9 pm") At 9:15 all of us who have managed to find each other, will head to some place either in, or near, the Hotel, to have some enjoyable conversation. That way if we want to have more connections during the next few days, we can set up some sort of second gathering... Even if you have no previous knowledge of these techniques, I invite you to feel welcome to join us anyway -- it's not a "work session" -- it's more like a party! If you do this work yourself, try to bring along some flyers with info about your interests (or at least business cards), so that networking and sharing can also happen... If you are interested but cannot be there, then get me some info in advance and I'll circulate it for you! I look forward to some nice reunions and also meeting some new people! Should anyone want any additional connections with me during the conference, know that I will be "arriving early and staying late" -- due to the distance I must travel, I must arrive into Atlanta (and the hotel) on Tues night, so I will be around all day Wed until 4 pm... Similarly, I will be around the hotel on Sunday until mid-afternoon (when I head to North Carolina), so I would be happy to meet up with folks on Sunday too... (Also, I was invited to do a "Masters Supervision Session on PhotoTherapy" during the Conference -- perhaps some of you other experts with info to share about this field, would like join me for this too -- if you don't mind getting up at 7 am)!!! There will be a small "gathering" at the upcoming AATA conference in Atlanta, for people interested in PhotoTherapy Techniques (and also in Therapeutic Photography techniques) to meet and share info and network with each other.
(because that Reception is not usually a "meal" -- and so usually people will want to continue socializing and grab some dinner at that time anyway...).
(those of you who were at this same sort of thing the first day of the ECArTE conference last year, already know what a great party this can be!
