Posted by Harlan Lampert Here are some ideas that I have found useful, and lead to interesting therapeutic discussion and interesting class discussion in the class these kids are in. There are two ways of approching this either have them first take pictures or first write about some topic. These can be 'feelings' or abstractions like 'loyalty,' 'honor,' 'memory,' or anything else that seems relevant. Of course after pictures have them write or after writing have them take pictures. Photographing feelings i.e."happy", gets you pictures of pets, favorite teachers or events. Besides asking for feelings pictures, ask them to photograph people, places or things that have provided them with great memories. They can write about the memories evoked. Ask them to photograph an abstraction like honor or loyalty. Transitions between schools can be approached as both loss and hope (leaving one behind for another). The notions of transition can be a theme for writing or photos. Hope this helps. Harlan Lampert
