Posted by Judy Weiser, Administrator In terms of contacting anyone using art therapy", please check with the Art Therapy Association in whatever country you live it (you didn't say, in your message). Since your message appears on this "thread" title about the U.K., perhaps you are there?? if so check with the British Association of Art Therapists ("BAAT"), at: if you are not in the U.K., then please ask again and I will try to help you... If you ARE in the U.K., perhaps you will be interested in the Lectures and workshops I will be doing in April, in Derby England (see the details at the "upcoming workshops" portion of my schedule on the Training and Education" page of my website... it is actually not difficult to get people to talk about their work -- only difficult to FIND them initially, and that is one purpose of this Discussion Group page. So therefore I would recommend that you put a second message onto this page, but this time go to the original page, at : in fact ,THAT would be a good title for the message itself -- and I bet other people would answer you!... also if you will write me "back-channel" (directly, to my own email address, rather than via a message on this Group), then I will be happy to connect you with anyone else I'm aware of in your country. Since you are an already-experienced counsellor, I would like to suggest that you find a copy of my book "PhotoTherapy Techniques: Exploring the Secrets of Personal Snapshots and Family Albums" -- and read it! -- because it is a "written-down training workshop", in book form. You can find out more about it on my website's page for "Book and Video"... [see link below] and in the meantime, if you want to know more about this work, please read ALL the many pages of that website (at: there are also MANY recommended readings there as well as a longer list you can download, speicfically for PhotoTherapy itself... there are a LOT of people using PhotoTherapy techniques in work with abuse survivors, and especially those from marginalized populations (myself included!). If you will go back to the main page of this Discussion Group, and use the "search" box for looking for key words like "abuse", you will be able to find some of these people yourself... make sure when you post YOUR message(s) that you remember to click the box below where you type it, so that you will be notified if anyone responds to yours, with their own posting... Finally, once I know where you live, I might be able to give you some more contacts for the kind of discussion you are seeking... hope this helps, Judy (Weiser)

Hello Catharine, and thank you for your message...
http://www.baat.org/ -- and I am sure that they can put you in touch with those in Scotland or Ireland, if you are not in England itself.

http://members.boardhost.com/phototherapy
(where you enter this whole Discussion Group) and then once you are there, go to the very bottom of that page and create a NEW message (with, therefore, a new "subject title name") and ASK something like "Are there any people doing PhotoTherapy or Therapeutic Photography in ____ (your country)"
http://www.phototherapy-centre.com -- because the site is a small book itself.![]()
