Posted by Caroline Lovell Currently, I am working with video, photography and story to effect the way memory influences the present. I have long been interested in the ability of an image to tell a story, and now In addition to collecting stories, I am photographing the storyteller. I am creating portraits of stories by including the image of the person who is remembering them .My intent is to create a body of work that will be exhibited and shared with many people, allowing for the stories to move through time and continue to play a significant role in effecting change. I am inspired to combine and match the integrity of a written story with the intensity of the story that comes from the visual image. Storycard is a way of combining history with the present time and recreating it for the future. If you are or know anyone who is interested in this project I would love to hear from you. Stories can be recorded, or if you preferred written and sent by mail. I am willing to travel to photograph a story! I am happy to join the Therapeutic photography community. I see myself as a transformative photographer and am interested in using photography as a tool to healing and discovery and joy.

I am a Professional fine art photographer and graduate student in Transformative Arts in Berkeley California. My latest body of work is called Altered Memories. Altered Memories is a series of re-interpreted moments used as an opportunity to influence a visual memory. The result was to put myself in a moment of time with some relatives I did not know and some I know very well, and to include myself as an additional observer and recorder in my family’s collective memories. The images are being exhibited and I am busy compiling a book with added text.
I am beginning a project called Storycard. I am collecting stories that have been generated through personal connection and experience and have endured because of their ability to change lives. I am interested in any outcome, positive or negative and within any time frame. A story from twenty years ago can be as significant as a story from yesterday. Anyone from age three to one hundred and three can hold a story within them.
I believe everyone has a story to share and every story is important. I am asking you to share just one with me and allow for me to capture it and release it into the world.![]()
