Posted by Judy Weiser, PhotoTherapy Ctr Below is the formal "Public Announcement Statement" agreed to by all parties in this case -- and I think it should be pretty obvious why I am so pleased: “Judy Weiser, author of the 1993 book "PhotoTherapy Techniques: Exploring the Secrets of Personal Snapshots and Family Albums", announces that she has accepted payment from Eduardo Giusti and MariaClaudia Proietti to end her copyright claim against them (regarding "their" 1995 book "FotoTerapia e Diario Clinico"), in exchange for a Settlement Agreement which includes the removal of their book from any further publication, circulation, or sales -- as well as other conditions she is not permitted to divulge." For background information, please see my previous message on this subject (posted to this Discussion Group on September 7, 2005), that was titled: "Legal action re: Plagiarism claim begun against Giusti & Proietti and Court date set for October in Milan" (That message can be read in full at: That message included the following sentences: "On the basis of facts which I consider very reliable, I believe that the Giusti & Proietti book ("Fototerapia e Diario Clinico") is a plagiarism of my book ("PhotoTherapy Techniques: Exploring the Secrets of Personal Snapshots and Family Albums"). So I have engaged a Lawyer and commenced legal action. The writs were served in Italy in July, and the Court date has been set for October in Milan." • People wanting more information about this case can contact me at jweiser@phototherapy-centre.com -- or 604-689-9709. (If I am unable to answer your questions myself, I will be happy to forward your questions to my Lawyers for their response.) also see: http://www.phototherapy-centre.com/plagiarized_italy1.htm for more details and page comparisons too... And if you find places (online, in stores, whatever) where this book is still being sold, please immediately contact me with as much information as you can provide about that location, so that my Lawyers can "strongly invite" its immediate total removal... You might also want to check the "About Plagiarism of this Book" part of the "Book & Video" page of my website (after April 15, 2006) for full citation details and any additional information that I am legally permitted to share about this case -- and to read about a second instance of plagiarism of my book [in England], which is also discussed in detail there. **Additional "warning note" for those who have been published: AND FINALLY, please share this information about this case with as many people as possible -- it's important!!! As part of the terms of the Agreement, I myself am not legally permitted to put the above "Settlement Agreement Statement" anywhere else on the Internet except my own website's pages... Therefore it would really be appreciated if those of you reading this message now, would try to "point" as many people as possible directly TO this message here! Thank you, Judy Weiser, R.Psych., A.T.R. (Director, PhotoTherapy Centre)

**Please share this information below with everyone you think should see it -- especially those in the PhotoTherapy, Art Therapy, and Psychology communities in Italy (and Europe in general)!:
I wanted to share the very good news that, regarding the legal action I began last year in Italy against Edoardo Giusti and MariaClaudia Proietti (and their publisher, Franco/Angeli) for publishing the book "Fototerapia" (full title and background details can be found underneath the "Statement" below) -- this case has now been successfully settled without having to go to Court!

As a result of what I've learned throughout this case, let me alert you that these sorts of things are far more common outside North America than most of us realize.... Please be aware that there might exist published translations in foreign languages, of your own writing, that you yourself might not be aware of -- and there are ways you can check out some of this through "plagiarism detection" websites...
(and if you want the names of two really great copyright Lawyers in Italy, I'd be happy to provide their names!).
