I agree with Lin, maybe not in so many words. JR gave his ability to walk to protect his family. We all know dogs are loyal, and too often people are not. But he now has a loving home where hopefully he will live out the rest of his life in comfort and love. I trust the family who abandoned him will get their karma as well.
