I have a large mixed breed dog that is over 13 years old now. He has that degenerative myopathy in his back legs and has slowely gotten worse.
He keeps getting urinary tract infections and the vet says he don't see any medical reason why accept that he is old and was never nuetered.
I bought him a dog wheelchair and it did not work out, he did not have enough strength in the front legs to use it.
He does walk sometimes but I can tell it is very hard for him and sometimes he will just pull his self. He still eats well and drink plety of water and does not appear to be in severe pain so my question is, I am wondering if this is time to uthinize him? Sometimes I am told that dogs will not show their pain to the owners. Is it inhumane of me to keep him around when he has to be helped to get up and or to walk? Or should I wait untill the sign of serious pain is there?
I love him very much and have done the best for him all his life but I am really torn in this situation of wether it is time or not. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Jan
