The nucleus of original, local music is comprised of the very people that play and write original, local music. These are generally the same people that post on this thing, attend shows and whine about the state of things. To more effectively be critiqued, I'd think someone on the perimeter of the nucleus should take on the task of journalism. I've often thought about starting some publication(and still would consider it), but then I'd be right in the middle of the thing I'm trying to be objective about. I do think plenty of people still view this messageboard, but, like myself, are probably hesitant to initiate posts with some of the assanine remarks and competing egos. Regardless, I think there are enough thoughtful people to make it worthwhile.

I heard talks of a zine/distro to be paper-printed/web-designed back in December. It was to focus largely on local music. I don't know what progress has been made.
