We actually had a few decent results in there (draws at home to Villa and Spurs, away to Fulham, Newcastle and Brighton) as well as decent performances where we got nothing (away to Spurs, home to City, even 1-3 at home to West Ham).
but fans had to look at the big picture
its actually conceivable that without the points deduction we'd have been safe in mid December !
We've had knock back after knock back but we never looked like going down
The thing for me was that other than 3 games this season (Villa, Wolves, Chelsea) we have been competitive with the result being in the balance going into the last 10 minutes
We have no pace, we have little flair so we have to grind out results
Even when we didnt win for 4 months we were playing ok. Those teams we played were better than us as well, every single one of them !
If we win on Saturday we will have more points than in Martinez's 2nd and 3rd seasons when he had Lukaku playing up front
And I'm a supporter of his.
Even allowing for the challenges, the team's attackers being sold from under him, that was a truly shocking run. No wonder people were exasperated.
I totally agree he should be nominated but our fanbase cant get all high and mighty about it now
Bournemouth have so far got 9 more points on the back of spending £125m last summer
We currently have 9 more points on the back of selling players and picking up 58 year old Ashley Young on a free
Emery, Guardiola, Klopp, Arteta & the fella from Bournemouth.
If it wasn't for points deductions, Dyche would have three points less than Bournemouth, despite them building their squad up in last couple of years and him having his asset stripped.
Seems a bit mental.
(And Emery should win)
