I met the Arsenal chairman about a year after the Emirates opened & asked him what had gone wrong on the project (it famously came in on time & on budget - unheard of for a project of this size).
He said the bars - they’d completely underestimated that it would be an even bigger nightmare to get away from with 10k more fans, & with a nicer bar people were staying after the game & having a pint.
The first game v Spurs they took over £1m in beer sales alone.
I always remembered it because there was a half time comp at Goodison a few weeks later & the Q was to guess how many pints of Chang were sold in the previous season.
It was just over 60k pints.
In a whole season.
I know it’s only beer, but it opened my eyes to how quickly we were falling behind.
They put a hot dog in every toilet and flushed them all at the same time as a test of the waste system.
Not really relevant to this thread but its the story that always comes to mind every time someone talks about a new venue and it makes me laugh.

cancelled tonights gig as part of an air conditioning unit fell from the ceiling
Friday and Saturday night's Olivia Rodrigo gigs have been cancelled
I'm supposed to be going on Sunday which will be the 1st gig there if it goes ahead
Makes you appreciate Everton not rushing to get into Bramley Moore to ensure we are 100% ready
