Well I didn’t make the game as I drove nearly 400 miles today - taking my mother-in-law back daan saaf then returning north.
Caught the last 8 minutes on TV then watched the whole game back on I-player with the broadest of grins (a surprised, nay shocked grin - given the result and the performance).
I have oft lamented the fact I support/watch both Wire and Everton.
(I have at least seen Wire win at Wembley a few times).
Sam Burgess has transformed this Warrington side.
Tonight we were missing key players - Paul Vaughan - our best forward - and Ben Currie who has been outstanding at loose forward this season.
Saints were uncharacteristically wayward, and some of their key players eg Welsby, Lomax, Makinson and Walmseley were way off their best. That said, Warrington’s defence was outstanding. Ashton’s acrobatic finish was superb, and Burgess said he (Matty Ashton) practised that after training every day, so that it was deserved.
Now - a perfect weekend would be the Blues winning tomorrow.
I’ve gone 1-1 in our dads ‘n’ lads preddy league.
I’d take the one point.
Haven’t posted for a while.
About to renew my season ticket - though may go down the monthly repayment route after reading the Bluerose’s post and the comments about season tickets/insolvency etc.
John - hope this post finds you well.
Murph - thanks for a fair comment and commendably gracious response in defeat.
[The pie eaters will still probably win it of course! ;-)) ]
Cheers
COYB.
It would be churlish to say that Saints were way below par so I won’t but Warrington were the better team from the off and deserved the win.
Well done wire.
