There was a long period in the 80s where he was the best. Unbeatable & never lost a sprint or a tackle.
Lost a lot of respect from me for pretending Vinny Jones had headbutted him & rolling on the floor, but the best centre half in the land in 85
in the world at the time. The one person mentioned was Southall.

I was always partial to Baines, I thought he was severely underrated outside of Everton supporters, he was brilliant for a couple of seasons although I know people would laugh at me for that.
Sheedy 84/85? 14 goals as a winger.
Before my time - Brian Labone, Ray Wilson? Talking out of my arse here, I've no idea how good they were.
