I refereed a cup semi final yesterday, Tier 7 vs Tier 8, just under 200 watching, fabulous game of football at a nice little stadium (Tonbridge Angels) and it was brilliant, the women's game is going from strength to strength and dickheads like Joey Barton are going to be really upset in a few years time.
More and more people priced out of the men's game will turn to the Women's game, there are some really tight divisions at the moment that are going right down to the wire, 4 points separate the top 5 in the Women's championship for example, its exciting, enthralling and full of tension as opposed to the men's game which becomes boring for the majority of teams very early on in the season and at a huge cost to the match going fan. £120 odd quid for an England shirt!!!!
Be really interesting to see how the Women's game continues to evolve over the next 5-10 years but its certainly on a solid path so far.

It was a cracking day (apart from the football as usual! ) - great to see so many families and young Toffees all excited to be at Goodison. Sadly, I overheard loads of them commenting about how they can't usually afford it and haven't been for years, which says a lot about the current state of football - and the future of it!
Good to see you too mate - hope you all had as much fun as you seemed to be having!
As a dad to 2 young girls, I find the switch to Goodison for the Derby a great idea. From pictures with the WSL trophy and free face painting in the fan zone, to the players taking selfies at the end of the game with all the young fans, it really felt like a great family day out (with some good football mixed in). Just £2 a kid ticket too
Even got a catch up chat with our own FAB representative before the game too !
