Mykolenko had been so poor that Dyche employed Young in the left back position, such was his mistrust of the Ukrainian. Patterson was selected, mainly on the basis we had nobody else, until he too was displaced by Young. The reaction from both was polar.
Patterson seems lost, even slower and head gone. Is there an injury, an underlying problem we don't know about or is he just simply not good enough? Personally, I think he'll be moved on and replaced quite soon. (I see the West Ham lad we were linked with previously, Ben Johnson, is up for grabs at the end of the season)
Mykolenko, on the other hand, has taken the kick up the backside onboard, tackled the troubles in his war-torn home head on and his performances guarantee he is one of the first names on the team sheet.
The names of Pickford, Onana, Branthwaite etc are continually linked with money moves to 'bigger' clubs - I'd worry that we may struggle to keep hold of Mykolenko, his improvement has been that good.
