Replied below, in case you didn’t see it:
Have now lived in Kuala Lumpur for the past 22 years.
I have actually stayed in the chow kit during lockdown for a staycation and it’s pretty damn good for the money. A real boutique style place. Restaurant and bar downstairs are excellent too.
Happy give you any recommendations you may need whilst you are here.
Cheers

btw, have been lurking on this forum for around 25 years and very rarely post (hardly ever to be fair) and throughly enjoy reading your positivity posts as its fairly miserable otherwise.
It's our tenth wedding anniversary in July, so we're looking at Malaysia. Originally we'd wanted to go to Japan, but the prices are absolutely ludicrous, we'd never retire paying for it!
So, Malaysia has the most theme parks in Asia, so we're off there (very romantic!).
Looking at this boutique hotel The Chow Kit (fifty quid a night!) in Kuala Lumpur, but any suggestions for anything else?
There's loads of night markets & a big Chinatown, so that'll be us for a fair bit of it.
