And still shite.
Fact of the matter is that Kean, Iwobi, Gomes, Delph and Gbamin were all bought by Silva that summer, and coupled with a shocking first 3rd to half of the season, was the reason why he was sacked.
Feel free to ask him. You could also ask him why he tried to buy Kean again last summer for Fulham.
Anyway, the lad he was after chose Qatar instead of Everton, played 15 games since and scored 0 goals, then retired. At least with Kean we made a profit I guess.
I get it, Silva had a decent result yesterday, and we look shit. He wouldn't be doing any better with this crop of players than Dyche is doing. He had a far better squad while he was with us and he fucked it by spending £110 million in his second season on players that crippled us in different ways. Trying to say that the club bought all of those duds without his blessing is utterly embarrassing.
So, who do you think signed them? Are you saying that he was told that they are the signings, and he has no say? Also, regarding Iwobi and Kean, why did Silva come back for them last summer.
Very handy to change the facts to suit whatever argument, but his spending is part of the reason why we’re in the shit now, and part of the mess that Thelwell and Dyche were left with.
IIRC he wanted Mandzukic to lead the line and Gana had been extremely important previous season and losing him was a big blow.
he wanted Doucoure, an experienced striker and Zaha
he got Gbamin, Moise Kean and Iwobi
If we had got Doucoure and Zaha in that year we'd have been top 6
He spent a lot of money in shite. I liked him and I felt a bit sorry for him, but he should have done better. His signings that second season were shite, and they were his signings despite his supporters trying to palm them off on Moshiri.
Dyche’s job has been far harder than any Everton manager I remember, possibly except for Kendall Mk3. Outside of Pickford, Branthwaite and Onana, that’s a championship squad.
We'd lost Gueye during the summer and replaced him with Gbamin (injured) Delph (injured), Gomes had his leg amputated by Son, Sigurdsson was also injured and a couple of others
All managers who don't have the luxury of 25+ strong squads go through bad spells - Moyes quite often did it
We even had a bad spell under Silva the previous season but still finished 8th - it was after the last minute Derby defeat which knocked the stuffing out of us - we got out of that
Silva has been our best managerial appointment since Moyes - certianly our best coach
Even though I'd been at ANfield for the 5 - 2 defeat I was gutted we sacked him
IIRC Kean had a 1 v 1 at 4-2 down and we should also have had a pen earlier in the game
and thats not on Dyche.
Seven points in eleven games for Silva, five points in eleven games now.
If 2019 was a death spiral, this one is too.
He looked a thoroughly beaten man by the end of his tenure.
…Fulham taking Spurs apart.
I don’t care if his coaches used to smoke behind the skips or he never spoke to youth players. I’d have him back in a heartbeat.
His next job is a top six club or a European powerhouse.
