we actually had a much poorer run under Silva the previous season winning only 3 in 14 and losing 9 including a 6-2 home defeat by Spurs and getting knocked out the FA cup by Millwall but he recovered so well that we ended that season with 5 consecutive clean sheets
Liverpool 0-0
chelsea 2-0
Arsenal 1-0
Man Utd 4-0
Burnley 2-0
When he was sacked we had won 3 of our last 8
Hardly a sacking offence
Unfortunately as we are currently seeing, our fans and footy fans in general have very little patience
By the way, we only won 3 of Ancelotti's last 13 matches in charge including a 5 nil hammering last game of the season
the playing of him in early season when we really weren’t in desperate need to play him, as we weren’t facing relegation in those days, when he said himself he wasn’t fit was an awful managerial decision.
His body language and lack of decisions in the 2-0/2-1 (can’t remember) defeat at home to Norwich was clearly stating that he himself had lost all confidence.
Myself, looking at him in those final days think the sacking saved him and allowed him to refresh and come back and do a pretty good job at Fulham. Had we persisted I’m unsure where he would be now as the job seemed to be consuming him. Not helped by Moshiri’s relentless pursuit of him prior to his appointment and the pressure that must have brought.
I liked him and still do and wish him well except when he’s managing against us.
…Fulham taking Spurs apart.
I don’t care if his coaches used to smoke behind the skips or he never spoke to youth players. I’d have him back in a heartbeat.
His next job is a top six club or a European powerhouse.
