The Everton version, the one that had no end product unless it was a deflected goal and spent most of his time flattering to deceive and giving away stupid free kicks. Don’t get me started on his falling over attempts to win pens and free kicks.
Most premier league players would waltz in to our side and the money we got for him was good money for a promising player.
Alas we had no choice, but I’d have been happier if we could have kept him and gave him a none toxic culture/fanbase/stadium that would have given him the space to get better and better.
But that’s not us as the moment so the money coming in was the right choice.

Thought he was great for us and would waltz into our current team. 40m was a snip
Player of the tournament Euro U21 and had a solid season at Newcastle, Barnes injury may have helped his development.
Will go on to have a great career
Certainly agree the last few years being forced to sell our best players has been painful and all on Kenwright and Moshiri!
Gordon and Richarlison in the current side we finish top 10 no problem
especially at that price but I think even his biggest critics and I'm one of them could see there was real potential there.
Still a big question over whether that will be realised or not and given were we are we couldnt not take the fee on the 50/50 chance he realises that potential and that bit is the most painful to accept.
I don't mind us selling players because we dont want them or they dont fit our plans etc but being forced to accept offers because of mismanagement is bloody horrible.

Has to be my biggest regret of recent times selling Anthony Gordon
