On the warning below. I'd imagine they're better versed on what constitutes warm crimes and genocide than John Spencer, too.

I'd imagine they'd be pretty well versed on the subject. I'd go so far as to say, far more well versed than John Spencer.
to be well versed in the subject and if someone equally versed wants to give the opposing view I'd be happy to read it.
but it does show its not for a political party or parliament as would have been the case is the SNP vote had carried, to unilaterally declare any party guilty of any crime. In the same way its not for them to declare a country safe as they are doing with Rwanda.

...there is a process to be followed, it is for the ICJ to decide if its a war crime. Labour are hoping to be a serious party of government so do not want to be a campaign group that declares guilt before a case is heard by a court.
The SNP knew this and they can also be accused of playing politics in laying a trap for Labour.
Im not saying Im with them on that, but it is not as clear cut as you make it sound. Innocent until proven guilty is a pretty important pillar of our democracy. Even in the most clear cut of cases, we do not usually pronounce guilt prior to a trial .
SNP used their opposition day to table a motion that referred to the "collective punishment" of Gazans by Israel, ie. a war crime.
Labour blackmailed the Speaker to get their own motion in which protected Israel from any such accusation - https://x.com/nicholaswatt/status/1760315363542122769?s=20
Maybe to protect Starmer from any future day out at the Hague for himself, I don't know - https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/sir-keir-starmer-hamas-terrorism-israel-defend-itself/
And somehow this has all been manoeuvred into a story about the general public - in particular Muslims - are apparently threatening the lives of MPs, for which there is absolutely no evidence.
It's one of the most transparent and insulting examples of politicians and press working in concert I've ever seen, and judging by TT's revolting post below, it's worked a charm.
To reiterate, this chaos ensued from Labour trying to shield Israel from the (entirely correct imho - how many dead now, 30,000?) accusation of collective punishment. Anything else is just noise.
