The PL is now dominated by the big spenders and any team challenging their ranks are quickly disabled by the chequebook (ie the Lescott saga). The top six dominate for a reason, they have the money and can simply buy off any challengers.
Clubs outside the moneyed teams are faced with a choice of pragmatism or gambling and the gamblers never win ..... they are just bought out. Managers like Dyche and Moyes know that their tactics will offer a high chance of survival as long as they keep their teams motivated to defending from the front.... its a necessary tactic that allows them survive. However the only flaw in that is when they have it working well the fans expectations rise above what is possible in a money dominated league.
