I had the same thought. And this morning Tobias Ellwood is claiming
a dozen or more Tory MPs are prepared to withdraw support from the government in a no-confidence motion should the next PM try to force through a no deal scenario.
Whether they would go through with this threat is another matter. Hard to see any way this ends well for Johnson though.
......he pulled out of the race citing ‘personal reasons’.
such a grand scale? Genuine question. I just don't see how he gets away with it. He's not *quite* as crazy as Trump. The ERG vultures are already waiting to pick at his bones and he isn't even leader yet! It's quite possible he will throw the country under the bus to keep his promise, and also possible he will successfully blame someone else (with the help of his media cheerleaders).
I think he's ####ed. But what do I know, predictions are dangerous these days
and he will win the next Presidential Election UNLESS OPRAH stands against him !!
I am starting to think though, that the voice in Johnson's head that says "you're setting yourself up for a fall" is getting louder. His egotism may drown it out but he is not coming across as full of confidence and bravado, in the way that his huge poll lead would make you think he should be.
He's made another undeliverable promise. But this time, he's going to have to carry the can for it.
Either we leave on the 31st of Oct with no deal and no contingency plan and the arse falls out of the economy, or he faces the full force of Brexiteer rage from inside and outside his party as the gig is postponed again.
Either way, his reputation is ####ed. And his party's electoral chances.
Your move, de Piffle.
