Im sure it does but hopefully that subisises some of the less commercial stuff,
as much as I think they produce lots of good and some excellent TV, its the radio I would miss most, 5, 6music, but mostly 4 and WS. I bet a good 70% of the podcasts I listen to are BBC. Maybe there would be a way for all that audio to survive in a commercial model, Im not sure what that would look like though.
Blue Planet, Horizon, The Planets, Id say as good or better than any docs from years back.
Flea bag, as good a comedy a any that ever been on TV.
Killing Eve,up there with any drama from the past.
Radio 4 and the world service...both mostly wonderful.
I think I'd appoint Pol Pot as the Director General.
Just messing. I'd make it an opt-in service - pay what you want. I wonder how big the market for Miranda, Homes Under The Hammer repeats and lazily curated bits of The Old Grey Whistle Test is.
It should be noted that back in the day it was kind of great - two channels full of primo movies, cricket, decent comedy, more footer than you could get elsewhere and so forth.
