Re: The Student Loan Company are crafty if they only give 3 years they make it the final 3 years of the
Ah mate, sorry about that. If those Access courses are likevthe ones we have in Belfast, they’re fantastic and well worth it.
degree which means you have to pay the first years tuition fees yourself which at the moment is £9250!
The year they are counting as part of the 4 years I can get a loan for was in 1996! I left for mental health reasons but unfortunately due to the tine that's passed I can't get any documentary evidence to support this.
It looks like the Access course is going to be the way to go but it's not all bad as hopefully it will provide me with further UCAS points which will mean I get a better choice of Uni.
Can you not appeal it?
Did you drop out of uni previously, and was that through ill health?
Would it be worth your while getting funded for the first 3 years then trying to save a bit; borrow a bit etc to get through the final year?
Most universities also have finance officers in their student unions; might be worth a shot contacting them.
I'm still going to apply but with just two C's at A Level I'm unlikely to get a place directly onto the LLB course. I'm hoping that applying as a mature student and being covered by the Equality Act might give me a chance.
What I am thinking about doing now is an access course and applying again next year straight on to the LLB. Has anyone here done an access course and then gone onto university?
