Ego ability mismatch
Indeed. He just doesnít seem to try harder or even do something different.
Hismate Pogba was working really hard last night duelling with Fellaini. Rom didnít seem to apply himself.
He doesnít against the good centre halves.
Lukaku was anonymous once again in a big game. and that was my point. He's not a flat track bully, he just lacks the bottle when things get tough. Both for club and country.
I do take your point about the multi-paragraph post though. Next time i wont use space between sentences.
denied him opportunity. And that's what happens at the highest level. More lauded teammates de Bruyne and Hazard suffered the same fate.
Oh and the irony of pre-empting a multi-paragraph response with six paragraphs to say "flat track bully" is not lost....
Once again its another big game and Lukaku goes missing.
My criticism has always been not that he is a flat track bully but that when it comes to the crunch in the big games when his team is up against the wall he never comes through.
What has he achieved in this World Cup? 4 goals against the likes of Panama and Tunisia and an excellent dummy that help Belgium get out of jail against Japan which right now stands as the highlight of his international career.
He had a decent fist half against Brazil but then disappeared as the match went on. He was non-existant tonight.
No doubt Lukaku is a top class player but he is nowhere near World Class. Jamie Vardey has achieved more in his career so much less. And who knows may still continue to achieve more.
No doubt Robin et al will come out with the typically hysterical boring multi paragraph defense of the man. But the fact remains that for all his hype Lukaku as yet to achieve anything of note for either club or country. And for this he only has to look at himself
