Starmer is claiming that one of the amendments passed yesterday effectively keeps the UK in the single market.
Grieve agrees. As does Clarke.
Now, as far as legal stuff goes, these blokes are much more cleverer than what I am. If that's true May will be out on her arse in no time, because the gammons will be going off their gourds.
* may won because she got it through
* the rebels won because she made some promises about meeting their demands down the line
* we lost because may's still in power and the car crash is still going to happen
but it's got to go to lords (where it might all still fall apart), and then come back down where the rebels can still get it thrown out (and where it can still all fall apart).
so, as you say, it's more may clinging on like an unflushable turd while brexit circles the drain and the heat gets turned up elsewhere. i'm still thinking an early election is on the cards because all the eu has to do with any one of their proposals is ask for a white paper and realistic timescales, and the whole thing will come apart at the seams.
