Re: Struggling to see much value in Peru
Agreed. One of the major issues, however - other than our ageing and increasing cynicism - is the fact that we now know all of the players as they play every week in the high profile leagues which are so readily accessible on TV / online, and the excitement of unearthing 'undiscovered' gems is therefore largely absent.
given their group and who is likely to be waiting from D...but then I have Rodriguez e/w as top scorer so what do I know?
England less dislikeable than normal, so I'll be vaguely hoping they play well before inevitable quarter final heartbreak. Backing Messi to drag Argentina to glory as his defining swansong, apart from that it's all a long, long way from how excited I felt watching my first world cup in 1970.
Football was proper in them thar days I guess.
Its not quite as exciting as 62 because you know and have seen the world stars. It can't hope to replicate the sheer pleasure of the Brazil 82 team but I'm hoping for some upsets and a big return on my wager on Peru.. Still mulling over top scorer. can be a quite strategic decision. One hat trick can swing it. Cavani? Lukaku? or
Jesus, Werner,Griesamnn on the basis that they will play more games.
