Normal everywhere except UK.
The Head Coach (NOT manager) still has to deal with the dressing room egos, training/preparation, the press, the frontline pressure for results, the fan frustrations on match day and all the other stuff that comes with being the figurehead including travel/a lot of time away from family and limited control over your own time.
The DoF role suits smart, analytical, hard working, detail oriented professionals who prefer a more structured existence, more control over their own timetable/travel and who are generally happier somewhat out of the limelight.
Horses for courses. Coaches get paid for accepting the spotlight and the blame!
: That sounds like a big responsibility for £2m
: compared with a Manager whoever he might be
: at £7m

: Squad building & playing style from
: academy to first team is now firmly in
: Brandsí hands. Silva or anyone else will be
: expected to play in a certain way. Iím not
: privy to exactly what that will be but if
: you look at Brandsí previous clubs and you
: look at Silva then it is fair to assume it
: will be:
: 1. High energy pressing
: 2. Pace wide/counter-punching
: 3. Build from the back with a fast, physical
: 4 man backline, capable of switching to a 3
: if needed
: 4. Creativity at #10 in a 4-2-3-1 capable of
: switching to 4-4-2/3-5-2
: 5. 2 deep midfielders but one a
: passer/playmaker (like Barry)
: It is not likely to be a huge change for us
: tactically. If Silva canít get the job done
: then ANO Head Coach happy within a DoF
: system and able to play the required way
: arrives with Brands providing the
: continuity, stability and direction.
: Brandsí success or failure is more critical
: for what we want to do than Silva.

: I have a bad feeling about him .... its like
: he had a few good spells at both Hull and
: Watford but ultimately failed to stay the
: distance. The fact his head was so turned by
: our interest last year that his side fell
: apart extremely alarming and makes me wonder
: how stable this guy is.
: He seems to change clubs every year since
: 2014 with personal reasons or just quitting
: a common theme. I think bringing him is as a
: huge risk given that we are talking about a
: long term project and haver appointed Brands
: (a man who has proven he can stay the
: distance). The club needs someone who will
: not have their head turned and is committed
: to giving us at least three years in terms
: of building a platform for success as our
: squad needs a complete overhaul.
