As part of this blueprint, there was a plan in place for many years to use the Barca connection to eventually lure Guardiola.
The difference between Man City's owners and Moshiri is quite staggering. In any case, there is no comparison, as even if Usmanov is waiting in the wings, their wealth is on a totally different level.
Also, their owners came in at exactly the right time, when wealth still made all the difference. Now amost PL clubs have funds available to compete with anyone except the handful of "superclubs", so it's more about recruiting (and attracting) the right players.
We have basically a Championship level CEO, a glorified scout as our DoF and a clueless crook as our manager.
Worst of all, we have an owner whose reputation seems to decrease massively every time he opens his mouth in public.
The best we can hope for is, as Ezy suggests, to emulate Spurs. However, they have top quality professionals in every key position.
As a minimum, we need to reallocate the positions of CEO, DoF and Manager, and get these appointments right. Personally I have very little faith in Moshiri achieving that.
