Along with 4-4-2, I hope Mike Bassett also gets rid of the double defensive midfield. We don't need two water carriers.
With four at the back, we're crying out for a decent right-back. I'm not bothered by the two centre-haves, once Keane is one of them.
In the middle, I'd pick Schneiderlin over Gueye because he has more to his game, even if his current form is poor. Gueye is one-dimensional and no great shakes with the ball. I think I'd play Klaassen beside him, with Gylfi on one side and Mirallas on the other, if only for a bit of width on one side. Lookman might be an option on the other side if we need more balance.
Up front, it's got to be Calvert-Lewin and Rooney, with Sandro as the impact sub.
I think we've got to find some shape and balance. Too many square pegs in round holes right now. We'll still have an element of that, but we need to make some shape out of it soon.
Lose tomorrow and again on Sunday without showing any real pattern of what we're trying to become and I think Koeman is in real trouble with the fans.
: ...alas, we don't really have width and pace
: to make that work, but could give it a go
: with something like:
: Kenny - Keane - Jagielka - Baines
: Mirallas - Gueye - Schneiderlin - Sig
: Calvert Lewin - Sandro/Rooney
: Mirallas in the team purely because I don't
: think Lookman's quite ready yet, and we
: desperately need some pace, any pace in this
: I think that playing in a front two would
: get the best out of Sandro, but if you
: wanted to crowbar Rooney in to play behind
: you could do that instead. That can also
: easily be tweaked into the 4-2-3-1 Koeman
: prefers by simply playing Mirallas, Rooney
: and Sig as the three.
: Arguably I'd put Holgate in for Jagielka, as
