I have heard rumours that there is a serious possibility that he might not play at the top level

again, if at all.

The tendons used to replace Arteta's ligments have proven too thin to hold the stitches and the stitches keep ripping out, making the tendon weaker each time. It's just the way his physiology is and there is nothing rally they can do except keep trying with new tendon grafts each time and hope one holds.
