I don't know if any of you have come across a relaxation technique called Mindfulness. Mindfulness aims to reduce stress and help release you from unproductive thought patterns and behaviours. I have come across a number of people who have found Mindfulness to be very helpful in helping them to deal with wayward thoughts and to relax more fully. I thought it could be useful for me in tackling the unhelpful thoughts that I often have to deal with when I need to pee in a situation which I know is going to be difficult for me.
I enrolled on an online Mindfulness (free!) course which is underway at the moment.
Some people on the course are finding it very helpful indeed. It's not an alternative to the CBT based approach that UKPT promotes and which has worked so well for many people, but I do think it could be a useful additional technique if you find that you have problems with negative and critical internal mental chatter. I'm certainly finding the online relaxation sessions useful.
