Hi Sue - when I first read your thoughts about heredity and paruresis I was thinking of inherited characteristics too. Certainly one of my sons is lacking in self-confidence and prone to anxiety as I am, and I wonder if he inherited those characteristics which often seem to accompany paruresis rather than specifically inheriting paruresis. But then I found my thoughts moving on to the possibility of my sons having learned the behaviours instead of inheriting the tendency…. that's a bit of an uncomfortable thought, and I don't really know where this is leading but I do think it's very interesting. And probably on the wrong thread
