Posted by Frank on 3/4/2007, 3:29 pm, in reply to "Patient from China for help" Welcome on this discussion board. Here in Europe there are also many doctors who are not aware of this syndrome. Even the specialists (urologists) sometimes don’t know. In your case, I understand that you normally can pee OK when you are not bothered by the judgment or just the vicinity of other people. This is good and it seems to rule out a purely physical cause. And indeed you should try to prevent your bladder getting physically hurt. Please read more on this forum and in the very extensive information on the UKPT website. Frank |

Posted by Yugui on 5/4/2007, 4:05 am, in reply to "Re: Patient from China for help" Thank you very much for you information. In February, I had a surgery on my anus and I could not urine after that. I knew my condition and asked for catheters. It was bitter experience because three doctors inserted several times to succeed. This nightmare haunts since. Back to office I was bothered by female cleaner when I was in toilet cubic. That night I felt I would die because urine detention. I breathed hardly and my heart beat terribly. I felt hopeless in future. I even thought to suicide. Next day I searched internet and found nothing because I could not find proper key words in Chinese. I thought I was the only men to suffer from this. I went to see urologist and psychiatrist for help and they knew little about this. My anxiety shocked my wife. It is hard to imagine those days. Finally I found Shy bladder syndrome and find www.paruresis.org. I emailed and got reply that they suggested www.ukpt.org.uk and I now know there are flock of people to suffer. So, your quick and nice response is my big hope to relay and even to recover. I am very grateful to you for helping me a lot! Hi Frank, you mentioned freeware and email you. What kind of soft and where could I find your address?

Posted by Frank thank you for replying and giving more details. After my initial reply I wanted to also inform you of the additional information that is mentioned on (and linked to) on the web site of the (U.K.) National Phobics Society. That information is in the form of PowerPoint presentations, a kind of slide show on your PC. However, I then realised that there always is a possibility that the receiver of the message might be working on a PC on which the necessary PowerPoint software is not installed. There is PowerPoint Viewer software that can be downloaded from MicroSoft free of charge. Since you had given your E-mail address in your first post (it is hidden, but can be found hyperlinked under the blue color of the underlined name of the poster who enters an e-mail address), I found it more appropriate to give you all the details via E-mail, if at all necessary. For that purpose, I entered my E-mail address hidden under my name in my second post. After all, this Discussion Board is about the software in our heads (admittedly, our most personal data processor), not about the software in our PCs. So, you will find more details on PowerPoint viewing software in the e-mail that I have just sent you. Best wishes, Frank |
Posted by Andrew on 5/4/2007, 8:07 pm, in reply to "Re: Patient from China for help" If you are worrying about Frank's comment about email addresses: "it is hidden, but can be found hyperlinked under the blue color of the underlined name of the poster who enters an e-mail address"; that aplies only if you give your email address when you make a posting. If you do NOT give your email address when you make a posting, then it CANNOT be found. OK? We are careful to protect poster's identity if they so wish. Andrew

Posted by Yugui Xu Thank you all for helping me. Now, I feel better and a little bit relaxed after reading many articles on this board. I know it will take long time for me to recover. But I am confident of not getting worse. As 48 year old man, maybe it is late to know about AP. But it is not too late to do CBT. It is hardly to express my gratitude to you two! Any improvement I will inform you.
