A practice nurse told me that it is quite common for patients to say they cannot give a sample on demand. In your case, take a sample and offer it. If it is wanted only for medical reasons, they will probably accept it; if to test for drugs, they may not.
No need to go into great detail: you can say you need privacy and no time pressure to give a sample. Just in case, you could print off a relevant page of our website www.ukpt.org.uk to take with you.
