My father, Bob Wilson Sr., taught radio and celestial navigation for PanAm during the war years in Miami and Costa Rica. In fact, he ran the schools, wrote the study manual and designed the star chart that was handed out to the students. I have both of these artifacts and a number of photos.
My dad flew and instructed for PanAm from 1940-1946. He flew all of the Caribbean, South American ans European routes. Initially he flew on a variety of Sikorskys (S38-S42) and the Commmodor Clipper. Later, his flights to Europe and the far East where in the DC3. My dad passed in 2002 and, sadly, I don't know as much about his PanAm career as I would like to.
I would be interested in any information on the navigation schools or anything about the early Caribbean routes.
Thanks,
Bob Wilson Jr.
