Hello,Oliver, yes I have heard and read a lot about
all of the suspicious behavior around this case, and I'm also convinced Megrahi is innocent, but I do think it's a sell-out to the victims and their families, because now the real culprit(s) will likely never be persued, and convicted.I think this because by letting him go on compassionate grounds, the case didn't need to be reopened,so after the anger of the world blows over, the rest of this case will be swept under the rug,and 270 innocent people will have died in vain.To a lot of people in the world,Megrahi is the bomber, and until proven otherwise,by re-examening the facts, and reopening the case, thus proving his innocense, which I'm sure could be done,I understand the anger.

: Dear People!
: Dear former Pan Am Staff!
:
: First of all I want to say sorry if my
: English is not perfect but I am German. Of
: course the Lockerbie Disaster was a tragedy
: and the loss of 270 lives must hurt
: everyone, especially the relatives. Of
: course it would be a good feeling to know
: that the person who is responsible for the
: bombing of PA 103 is in the prison for the
: rest of his life and of course I would agree
: with you that it would be a blame for the
: justice to relase that person.
:
: But in fact Abdelasset Al Megrahi seems not
: to be guilty. Most Europeans and even many
: relatives of british victims of the
: Lockerbie Disaster know that. But if I read
: the comments here in the forum I am really
: shocked and surprised. It seems to me that
: many US-relatives of the victims don't use
: their brain, that they don't think, that
: they don't see or want to see the reality!
:
: Because there were ever serious doubts in
: the guilty of Mr. Megrahi and remember, he
: was never definitely identified but the only
: eye witness, Mr. Toni Gauci.
:
: I am sorry but due to my bad English I am
: not able to write everything I would like to
: tell you by myself but I'll recommend you to
: read the following links in English and to
: wake up and see the reality:
:
:
: This is the website of Dr. Jim Swire, who's
: Daughter Flora was killed in this night and
: he writes:
:
: „17th September 2009. Renowned lawyer Gareth
: Peirce - Devastating analysis of evidence
: In the September edition of The London
: Review of Books Gareth Peirce analyses in
: depth the key evidence of the Lockerbie
: trial and judgement. Her conclusions fully
: support our own and those of many
: distinguished lawyers, journalists and
: politicians.
: We maintain that the two key elements of the
: conviction are:
: 1. The identification of Al-Megrahi: In an
: extraordinary development in 2005, Maltese
: shopkeeper Toni Gauci was exposed as an
: unreliable witness by the man who in 1991
: indicted Megrahi, former Scottish Lord
: Advocate Peter Fraser. In Fraser's words,
: Gauci was "an apple short of a
: picnic." And yet the judges trusted
: Gauci's contradictory and confused evidence,
: and ignored the fact that Gauci was on a
: promise of a multi-million dollar reward if
: Al-Megrahi was convicted. There were later
: reports of $2m being offered to Gauci in
: meetings with CIA representatives.
: 2.The alleged bomb timer fragment: Strong
: doubts surround the fragment and the CIA
: background under which it emerged in Calder
: Forest. Was it planted to frame Libya for
: the crime? The fragment's label had been
: altered by unknown persons. And its finding
: and examination by Dr Thomas Hayes proved
: highly suspicious. „
:
: Here you can find an article from Mr. Gareth
: Peirce who is a defence lawyer who has
: represented many men and women in their
: appeals against wrongful convictions made on
: the basis of disputed scientific evidence,
: misidentification and police malpractice:

:
: Also very interesting - the BLOG of Prof.
: Robert Black who was responsible that the
: trial could be held:

:
: Following articles are very interesting and
: must open the eyes to all people who still
: belive in Megrahis guilt, the guilt of one
: singular person:
:
:

: Mr. Megrhis Lawyers published the documents
: they should have been made public in his
: second appeal on a website:

:
: The UN should make an inquiery about that
: all:

:
: Where are the answers to that questions:
:

:
: And here is the answer about the probably
: „hereos welcome“

:
: Look also here:
:
:
:
: Here is one article from Dr. Köchler:
:
: I am always surprised when people refer to
: Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi as the Lockerbie
: bomber. Even if he is guilty – something
: which, personally, I do not believe – he
: would only be a Lockerbie bomber, just one
: of many people who carried out a crime which
: would have taken a large network of people
: and lots of money to carry out. It amazes me
: that the British and American governments
: act as if the investigation into the bombing
: is somehow complete.
:
: But I welcome the release of Megrahi,
: because I firmly believe that he is innocent
: of the charges made against him. Believe me,
: if I thought he was guilty I would not be
: pleased to see him released from jail.
:
: His decision to drop his appeal, however, is
: deeply suspicious – I believe Megrahi made
: that decision under duress. Under Scottish
: law he did not need to abandon his appeal in
: order to be released on compassionate
: grounds. So why did he do it? It makes no
: sense that he would suddenly let it go.
:
: In my time as the UN’s observer at Megrahi’s
: trial, I watched a case unfold that was
: based on circumstantial evidence. The
: indictment against him and al-Amin Khalifa
: Fhimah went to great lengths to explain how
: they supposedly planted a bomb on Flight
: 103, and yet Fhimah was acquitted of all the
: charges against him. It made no sense that
: Megrahi was guilty when Fhimah was
: acquitted.
:
: The prosecution produced key witnesses that
: lacked credibility or had incentives to bear
: false witness against Megrahi. Tony Gauci,
: the Maltese shopkeeper who supposedly sold
: him the clothes that went around the bomb,
: had been fêted by the Scottish police who
: took him fishing. The Americans paid him
: cash following his testimony. The weakness
: of that testimony would have been a key
: component of Megrahi’s appeal.
:
: We will probably never really know who
: caused the Lockerbie bombing. So much key
: information was withheld from the trial. A
: luggage storage room used by Pan Am at
: Heathrow was broken into on the night of the
: bombing, and yet this information was
: withheld. The British have yet
: satisfactorily to explain why.
:
: I want to know when the bomb was placed on
: the plane and by whom. We have to look more
: closely into the "London theory" –
: that the bomb was placed on the plane at
: Heathrow and not in Malta.
:
: It would be childish to be satisfied with
: the conviction of just one person for a
: crime that clearly involved a large number
: of people. I find it very difficult to
: understand why there seems to be so little
: pressure from the British and American
: public on their governments to investigate
: the bombing properly.
:
: The UK regularly talks of the need to pursue
: all terrorist atrocities. Yet how can the
: Government assure the public they really
: believe that, when they have virtually
: abandoned their investigation into the worst
: terrorist attack in the country’s history?
:
: We have to know what happened and the only
: way is a full public inquiry, either
: mandated by the House of Commons or by an
: investigative commission voted for by the
: UN’s General Assembly. Time is of the
: essence. This crime is already 21 years old.
: To find out the truth we must act now.
:
: Hans Kochler was appointed by the
: Secretary-General of the United Nations as
: international observer at the Lockerbie
: trial in the Netherlands.

:
: Last but not least look at the website of
: Prof. Dr. Hans Koechler who abserved the
: trial for the UN and who is saying for years
: that there was „political influence“ and
: that the trial was „unfair“:
:
:
: I do not want to insult some of you but
: somone must not denie all those facts and
: irregularties above only why it would be
: comfortable to say: „hey, Megrahi is gulity“
: ...
:
: I wish you all the best - may god bless you!
