Yes you might be right in some respect. The reasons why when a crash investigation of this magnitued happens or The forign agencies involved in that country where ever the aircraft came down the local Police and forensic teams are halted to comb the crime seen is duely because of tampering of evidence to be found and could interfare with criminal investigations unless permission from that airliner or the country it comes from along with the agencies gives that permission to do so. Another comment you metioned about PAN AM going under Frank. The lockerbie incident wasn't to blame for the collapse of our large airliner. In fact PAN AM was in strife way before the Lockerbie incident and selling of aircraft or disposing of assets along with air routes. PAN AM had already filed for chapter 11. How ever Frank after the crash of The Maid N739PA the aircraft was wfo through the insurance company and the remaining payout figure owed to Citibank Investments who still owned this aircraft along with other PAN AM jets in the fleet, was paid out. But the legal challenges laid ahead where the victims families we in pursuit of PAN AM for compensation was held up by a court order until they determined the actual cause of the bombing. Until now PAN AM never paid out victims families even before they went under with there law suits as it was found PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS was in no way at fault for the downing or bombing of there aircraft or the loss of lives aboard or on the ground from the forces of impact where the 747 came down over the small township of Lockerbie. You can find this info in Google search under US attorney court remarks Frank or the Uni of MIA will have that documentation on there data base.
