B 377 Gear Up Landing South America

I have heard that a Pan Am B 377 landed gear up in South America. Suppposedly the captain had been told to put the gear down and got mad about it. Later in the trip the flight crew noted that the gear was up but let the Captain land anyway. Any truth to the story? Any more details?
