The FEO on that flight was a good friend of mine. Your father and I had just done a BA trip a few weeks before the crash. There is a web site that details all of the crash history of PAA planes. It may not be easy reading for you but I'll try to find the site and pass it on. JJ

: Hi, Im looking for any info on the crash of
: Flight PA217 'Clipper Malay' N494PA from New
: York which crashed on approach to Caracus on
: December 12th 1968.
:
: All I can find on the net is basic details
: of passenger numbers (51, all killed) and
: the time of crash. Also the only details I
: found are 'It undershot into the sea because
: of a possibly sensory illusion caused by the
: upslope of the town lights'
:
: The reason I'm asking is my father was the
: F/O on that flight and next month will be 40
: years since the accident and I want to find
: out more about it.
:
: Does anyone know if there is a full report
: that I can read somewhere?
:
: Thanks
: Brian
