Can some one tell me N531PA CLIPPER FREEDOM our little 747sp21 jet. What happened to her at JFK on the morning of March 3RD 1978 when she arrived from MIA as a ferried flight and was used as a back up aircraft for N748PA CLIPPER CREST OF THE WAVE which refused to start for a long haul flight to LAX/NAN/AKL/SYD. Was this 747sp jet damaged at the ramp or gate which hit the nose cone cracking or splitting it into two and five hours later continued this flight with the crack still on the cone. It was PA815 meant to be departing at 18.00hrs from JFK. Yet N748PA sitting next to it was used and engines up and running doing the same long haul flight as PA812 left at 15.45hrs??. Does anyone out there remember this incident or any flight crew that was asigned to her that partcular day. I would like to here from you. Thank you
Kind regards
