Can some one tell me why did PAN AM order the pratt whitney high bypass jet engines for there 747sp jet instead of going for the rolls royce RB211 engines which would have suited the plane remarkably well even on the older 747's they had. Can anyone tell me why JUAN TRIPPE went with these type engines. Thank you
